Pulling my stuff together for a new season. Thinking of a new setup. My guy says last year was the best they ever had. Rentals are nearly sold out. Lots of interest but it’s hard to get stock. Nothing like a visit to the local shop to get things stoked. I’m stoked.

Only advice is if you do really plan on making a new purchase this year make it sooner rather than later. I've been told ski and snowboard hard goods will be selling out this year and selling out quick.

But yeah I've been drooling over new equipment, I think a fibre glass pow surf is in my future this season.

I had a great experience at Outdoor Sports Center in Wilton, CT today. Mike helped me size and fit new Salomon Shift boots. Had my S/labs cooked for a better fit but I might need to have them punched at some point for a little more room in the toes. He spent 2 1/2 hours with me on a busy day which was really appreciated. It was an hour away from home but worth the trip. Check them out if they are in your zone. Big inventory including other sports too.

A good boot fit is awesome. The shop near Hunter (on the main street) has a really good master boot fitter if folks are in that area. I went there from Long Island years ago and am skiing those boots.

That’s The Pro shop in Hunter. Keith is an interesting guy and a great boot fitter. I think he does footbeds on your insurance if you can get a prescription for orthotics.
Marc Stewart at the Boot Lab at Windham Mountain Sports is the only boot fitter who ever explained the compromises I need to make for my problem feet.
Both of those guys are excellent.

Keith has been my boot guy for the past 30 years.

OK WTF--- what am I missing? So I dropped my daughters new to her (used) skis off at REI for a tune up and binding release set/check and they guy is telling me he needs both boots for liability. I've never supplied both boots for this and it makes no sense to me since both boots are the same. Is this something new?

Does anyone know why REI would need both boots for a release check? Both boots are the same.
