Poma Lifts

Mt Greylock Ski Club, 12.5 mph. Faster than most detachables.

Chairlifts = break time. Skiing those tows gets you fatigued quick. I like them more but you gotta catch a break more often. Super hard to charge all day, I don’t care who you talk to.
I made that point in many of my TRs at surface-lift ski areas, including this one from Bivio:

You know that I'm a fan of t-bars because they feel less visually imposing and keep skier traffic down; however, 2,600 verts -- even on comparatively mellow terrain -- using nothing but surface lifts all day does eventually take a toll on your legs. Each ride to the top of the mountain is 4 kilometers/2.4 miles long. Still, better than walking.

I've been on many Pomas in the Alps, especially Switzerland; however, the most notable one that people here may recognize is the Summit Platter at Lake Louise. It has a nice stiff pitch on the upper section.
Powder Mag recently posted an article ("Long Live The T-Bar") about surface lifts that includes a post mortem about the Summit Platter at Lake Louise. Worth reading.

They used to have some good bumps sometimes in the T-bar tracks. It could be another adventure sliding up.

That is a good article, but I will never miss those steep, leg killing surface lifts. I would rather use my energy going down the hill. When Plattekill installed the double it was a 100% improvement over the tbar.

I hear you and am getting to the age where riding surface lifts is becoming less of an attraction; however, at the same time I agree with the points in the article.
