Whiteface has premier paid parking next to the main lodge.
Has anyone paid the yearly fee to park there ?
I know it is still first come first serve - so you could get shut out.
Just wondering if that happens often or how many people utilize the lot.

I have never paid the annual fee but I have paid the daily fee before, especially when the car is full of folks willing to share the cost. I haven't used it in a while because I mostly ski early mornings these days so there's no need but when I did, it filled up on weekends but not during the week.

They would still have to park their cars somewhere?

BTW IMO your opinion is likely to be popular. Generally I think people love slopeslide lodging.
At Copper we parked the rental underneath the place we stayed. It was summertime next to a hole on the Copper golf course.
First night lugging the suitcases/groceries up got us whooped as it’s 2 miles up.

Now that I think about it, have come across basement or lower level parking at quite a few resorts. At Snowshoe in WV, one of the condo complexes in at the main village (built by Intrawest) has a parking garage under the building. Once at the resort, the resort shuttles are the best way to get around. The slopeside condo complex built in the 1980s at Winter Park I stayed at in Dec (early season discount) had a parking garage under each building. There is several floors of underground parking at Snowmass. The Rustler Lodge at Alta has underground parking.

Yup, and if it dumps ❄️ ya ain’t gotta dig it out.

You mean when it snows like this in the middle of a ski vacation and you don't feel like dealing with it until the day before leaving? Could at least borrow a shovel from the resort. :)

Vail Resorts has announced changes for parking at their Tahoe resorts. Using some of the same strategies used at Park City this season. In general, parking at the resorts near SLC is very different now compared to a few years ago. All have too much demand and too little parking. Park City is ahead of the game because the local town bus system is much better than what UTA provides for LCC/BCC and the Ogden Valley.

Brighton is implementing a reservation system for next year. No further details are available on whether it's paid or free.

Given that Solitude is all paid parking, Alta charges non-passholders Fri-Sun, and Snowbird has limited free parking as well as paid parking, I would guess Brighton will also be a combination with more paid parking Fri-Sun.

Grand Targhee has an unusual approach to the paid parking location. Not sure if they started the idea this season or last season.

Lot 1 is next to the base. On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, there are some rows in Lot 1 roped off for paid parking. Have to enter next to a little hut to pay $20. The number of rows varies. What is unexpected is that the first 3-6 rows are left as free parking for the early birds. Then there is the pay section. Then a few more free rows.

On a Friday powder day, the free rows in Lot 1 can be gone by 8:15. I know because my ski buddy and I got the last space on March 3. Only because 2-3 cars in front of us decided they weren't going to make it so turned off to make sure they got a space in the farther free rows of Lot 1. There was 8+ inches of fresh fluffy snow after lifts closed the afternoon before and it was still snowing hard that morning. On Saturday morning, there were several more paid rows. We got there quite early and parked in the second row. Only three of the closet rows were free that morning.

There are three more parking lots, plus some overflow space. There are shuttle buses for the other lots. However, apparently there are times when all the parking fills up. There are shuttle buses from town, which I think are free.

Grand Targhee paid parking on a Saturday powder day, before 8:00am
Entrance is next to the hut in the back corner where they take the $20, overnight guests can park in that area for free
