Colorado towns and resorts figured out how to do that quite a while ago. Steamboat, Aspen, Telluride, and the bus options in Summit County are the best examples.

SLC and UTA are a mess these days.

As I understand it, the town of Stowe and the former owners before Vail Resorts didn't exactly work together on public transit planning.

Each region has different histories when it comes to ski resorts and the ski industry in general.
Jackson transit bus was super easy with loads of stops.

Lake Louise from Banff is also top notch. Fully kitted coaches with a couple of stops in town...all the gear goes in storage underneath. Free with lift pass. Luxury seats, USB chargers, clean....style and comfort all the way. Only wish I'd brought a few more beverages---it was like 45 miles each way.

I learned of a new factor that is contributing to Killington's parking filling up. Not only are fewer people riding the shuttles from the 7 condo complexes nearby, but the owners are also renting their units less. This is pushing the weekenders into Airbnb's that are not served by shuttle routes. I'm not sure there's a good answer to fix this. For 2 years people were encouraged to not ride the shuttles, and covid-era habits die hard. They can't serve every random Airbnb with a shuttle either. Maybe once the village is built, people will be staying on-mountain and not have to drive at all. Also, since parking will be further way, and likely require a shuttle, maybe those in the condos will just take the shuttles from there instead.

They use a big parking lot at Copper Colorado as their golf course's driving range.
Hit off a mat. Dang balls rolled forever.
They must just sweep them back up when they need to.

Not going to be a popular opinion, but for the destination resorts build more density and on mountain housing. Obviously that changes the character of many places but the more people walking to the lifts, the less parking you need.

They would still have to park their cars somewhere?

BTW IMO your opinion is likely to be popular. Generally I think people love slopeslide lodging.

For people flying in to resorts, slope side can let you avoid renting a car. Many western ski towns also have some local bus/van service to get around town.

When I used to get an Epic pass it was nice staying in Breck without a car and taking one of the shuttle services from the airport.

Yes people still need to park their car somewhere, but it doesn't have to be as close to the lifts. When my wife and I went to Tremblant and stayed in the village we unpacked in front of the hotel, then parked the car in one of the far outer free lots.

Killington is going the expand slopeside lodging route with their village development. And I was referring to both east and west.
