Plattekill Conditions

Or you can just go on a Friday and have the whole place for just for you and your friends for the price of a lift ticket with no weather risk at all.
Help me out, is today Friday?

Going to have to consider not purchasing a season pass next year for Platty. Love the place and have alot of blood, sweat and tears invested in the mountain but considering how many days they are open I may just purchase a ticket on the days when the conditions warrant.
What’s break-even on a Platty pass, 10 days? For some around here that’s an easy number to hit, for me it wasn’t.

Yeah. It is a challenge to make the season pass pay unless you’re a Platty homer. On the other hand the day ticket is very affordable compared to a lot of places. I vote for keeping the day price lower. It’s better for the sport long term.

Laz probably does not want to open for 6 skiers. You had the choice of at least 12 Fridays if not more Fridays.
That approach, and I don’t fault Laz for taking it because it’s his business to run, is what made me a one and done on a Platty season pass, and that’s ok. Like Harvey said, don’t like it take your $$$ elsewhere.

Honestly though, what mountain wants to operate late season just for pass holders? Not many, but you sold the passes so you do, regardless of how many scratchy early season Fridays one could have skied. Given the current coverage out there May 24 just seems too early to cut the operating week by 33%, IMHO (that nobody cares about).

I can see both sides. We all need to make our own decisions. I was just surprised cause I doesn’t feel like the season should be close to over yet. It is the end of March but it doesn’t feel that way to me.

There are going to be ski areas closing with snow this year, and that's going to take some getting used to. The last 2 years, there was significant melting in March and most ski areas limped to their closing dates. There isn't the incentive to stretch things out longer when few people are coming.
