ORDA Funding

Ugh, I'm just now seeing this. Apologies if you took my comments/opinion personally as that wasn't my intent.

That said, I stand by what I said.

Simply put, if ORDA board members owned property/biz in the Crick, like they do in LP, NC would look completely different than it does today.
No lakes in North Creek is why it doesn't thrive. No amount of money is going to change that.

There's a river that's very active. Lakes are all around. Millions and millions of free tax payer money certainly won't hurt. I'd also guess it's the money that makes LP successful and not the lake. 😉

FWIW, the Tri-Lakes are good at attracting people and events. For sure several wouldn't be possible without ORDA facilities. But there's also the Ironman, a horse show, rugby tournament, lacrosse tournament, a road half marathon, and an art festival. Those are the ones I can think of.

We can't forget dining and lodging options—especially dining. We've discussed pizza before, but having a place open past 7 PM would make a big difference. Last season, during the FSIU University Games in North Creek, it was clear that the town's amenities couldn't handle an event of that size. The sewer upgrades should help, but on the economic side, maybe a special zone downtown with lower rooms and meals taxes could attract more business.

I'm heading to a wedding at the Sagamore next summer, and staying anywhere near Lake George is out of my price range. North Creek is already the cheapest option if I'm okay with the 35-minute drive.

Up here, many businesses tweak their hours depending on the season or upcomingevents. Something like that would be useful if another big event comes to North Creek.

It doesn't hurt but it's not the only thing LP has.

Some of the Town of North Elba locals got to speak.
Lasted ~20 minutes...
Needed another...

Looking forward to smoking weed at the next Winter Olympics in New York.
Ya just might have to wait awhile.

Looks like The Cortina folks built their shiny new slidin track on time.
ORDA still has million$ of bidding going on to improve the track at The Ho.

ORDA's chances to host 2026 OWG event sliding away. Well played, Adirondack Explorer.
