ORDA Funding

Really interesting article, as someone who prides myself on financial efficiency but also someone who wants to see Gore, North Creek and the rest of the Adirondacks thrive I am conflicted. My biggest worry is that one day a different administration comes into Albany and cuts off ORDA and starts a giant downward spiral.
They should be held accountable for their spending but if the question is - is it working ? I think so. They've converted me to a loyal Ski3 patron. Compared to what vail offers I love the ORDA product. Probably wouldn't have said that 7 yrs ago. That said I get that locally folks have some issues

I did like basing out of the ski bowl and skiing 46er this year.

New piece regarding the economic impact of ORDA.
"A new report says the Olympic Regional Development Authority has a direct economic impact of about $342 million on the region. The study by the research firm Tourism Economics said ORDA also supported 3,414 jobs and generated $25 million in state and local tax revenues."

Ain’t there any research firms in NY studying economic impacts?
"Tourism Economics operates out of regional headquarters in Philadelphia and Oxford with offices in Belfast, Buenos Aires, Dubai, Frankfurt, London and Ontario."

These posts of yers earlier today in the Gore conditions thread makes me believe ya didn’t see it coming but may have had some sense of it coming.

So glad there are no slopeside condos.

and

Gore marches forward in a slow way, but they do continuously move forward. They may not do what you (I) want first. It may not be what the GM wants either. IMO gondolas and lodges and stuff are often dreams of governors.
I've said this before, I enjoy almost everything Gore has done. All the new terrain since 2000 is just wow IMO. But I also like the fact that it happens slowly.
Agree. I like everything Gore and Placid have done. It's truly abc enjoyable ski experience.

Someone help me with this, is 4300 hours a lot of use for one of these?

The oldest one is only 11 years old? One only 5 years old? Who is maintaining these things? Evidently no one. How much do these things cost?
They need to hire a fleet manager to insure that these things are properly operated and maintained. The payback would be huge.
Can anyone name another ski area that beats up their groomers like ORDA?

Someone help me with this, is 4300 hours a lot of use for one of these?
I just looked at some used ones (all brands) from 20-50k, none of them had more than 3000 hours.

I can think of two guys off the top of my head that will probably bid. Hopefully they go for cheap no matter who buys them
