I won't be there for opening day, and not sure if I will ski at all. I have skied about 20 days for since '16-17, so kind of a bummer. But I am risk averse, and haven't quite wrapped my brain around how to get the kids to ski safely with their need to warm up every hour or two without a ski-in ski out option in NY (lmk if you know of one please ; 0 ).
I took a look at Vermont's rules (mandatory quarantine for 14 days - no you can't ski during that period) and was surprised but not shocked.
I hope everyone stays safe and has the best season possible.

I’ll wait for a bit more terrain to open up.
Gore is making snow on tahawus. I would think the first path to the summit will be via the new high peaks chair. Good choice in my opinion.

I agreed
I think most people plan on using the car for warming up
But it doesn't help with kids

If there’s snow
we’re going to go.

Opening day. Plattekill 2019.

Welp, so far I think we learned that skiers and riders that normally blow off opening day, haven't changed their mind...

I think most skiers, except for the diehard might blow off the entire season. Especially for families the no lodge is just to big of a hurdle.

HP to the summit is a good choice because you don't need Uncas and you can stay completely on the north side. Maybe the new quad will move them off the traditional gondola first plan. But what's the point of Tahawus? North Quad is a nice area, but the front side should be more of an early priority.

The point of Tahawus, imo, is to alleviate a wait at AE2 and to spread skiers out, which, imo again, is the reason why they chose to open with AE2 servicing Showcase as opposed to the Gondi and Foxlair/Wild Air as they did last year (along with TR3 and Uncas to Tannery, along with this season's warm weather, as it's less terrain to cover with 2 lifts. I don't see the next move to Lift 6 though, as they are just putting more towers in with the chopper today. IMO next move will be Gondi and TR3, and maybe the new Lift 3.
I like the plan for this early season but we'll see how it flies.
