NY Uphill or Alpine Touring Routes

At this point it takes a huge storm to put Hickory's steep terrain in play.

Some good times at Hickory for sure. Wasn't that long ago really.
I went to Hickory last year on a powder day and it was clear that they did not want people skiing it. Was barricaded pretty much from the road... didn’t feel comfortable parking on the main road with plows coming down. Pulled the plug & went elsewhere.

Same thing at Bobcat. I mean I totally get it for the owner.

BVP: "Let's see no upside, possible downside. Hmm."

Ok as some of you serious free heelers or bushwackers MIGHT know , Lyon Mountain up near Malone between the hamlet of Lyon Mountain and Chazy Lake on rt 374 to Plattsburg .

The mountain is a seriously great slack country , free heel and bushwack site . The mountain is over 3800 ft and i think was ONCE considered for a DH venue . So would be worth checking out as a possible . I have seen articles by some serious slack country types about this place , but never skied . I t drove by it multiple times when my daughter was a student at Plattsburgh State it is a serious mountain , not a foot hill

I'd always thought Lyon Mountain was the reason RonKon started the Adirondack Powder Skiers Association, trying to preserve access and rights to maintain.
