Working on bringing over some of my old TRs and I found this post by a guy everyone knew as Andy Z:

He joined this forum as Funky Polak. I'd never met him but he seemed to me to be a cool guy. Loved his wife, loved to ski, love the old school places and always made a spring trek to Tux.

I'm wishing there was a way to bring a few of his posts over, not totally sure if that is cool or not. Hate to see his posts vanish into forever when Nabble finally bites it.

Anyone else know Andy or have any stories? Or feel free to post about others who've moved on, that you want to remember.

Yup Old AZ was a certifiable piece o work in the best sense ! He was a confirmed disco lovin denizen of the seventies before his Queen captured his heart later in life . The dude had sone really funny episodes .One i recall was when he was a batch , living somewhere in Jersey in a second story apt. It seems Z man ordered a new couch and was too damn cheap to pay to have the old one removed but didn't know how in hell he was gonna get it downstairs and out the front door !

So in larger than life Z way, Sumbitch rents a CHAINSAW ? Cuts that bitch in multiple pieces and throws it out the window in time for the curb for the trash collectors .

ANdy started the outlaw ski site called " The NO SHIT Ski forum" in protest over the rather tight assed Alpine Zone giving the number one certifiable BUT loveable whackjob GSS the heave ho.

So lots of us migrated to NSSF where lunacy and laffs were the order of the day . Legends like Campy and Funky Catskills alias D the kik ass drummer , and the inimitable and our own Marky Marc enticed me to join his " fun bunch" NSSF was a hoot , insanity like The Disembowler alias the DIS who actually had multiple personalities Like Brownsville Brooklyn who spun outrageous yarns about his yatch club adventures and his " BELOVED" parenst etc etc ,he used Beloved like i use condiment s? " RACK IT LITTLE MAN and Can u take it to the iron BIG Man" were two oft used BB phrases !

And BEST of all Dougie alias Grilled Steeze Sandwich ( GSS) spun hilarious adventures and introduced us to multiple characters from that giant in PA : BLUE MTN ... Dougie was one of a kind and made Zman look like a sideman .....ask others ask Gorgo , he KNOWS THESE dudes ?.

I miss those guys,m especially Andy who married later in life was always trying to convince us of Polish superiority in foods , adventures or maybe misadventures .mHe and i Connected on some level i married into a wonderful Polish family so we related on many levels: polish food , polish women , polish idiosyncrises ????.

Andy was one good dude a passionate skier and hiker who found love , lived large but died way too damn soon .RIP Zman

Sorry for the length , but AZ was special !

I couldn't have said it any better. Andy started the NSSF and it became fun, informative and totally freeform. He was awesome, funny snd his love of skiing and life were infectious. I loved the weekend morning coffee clubs. I also had thr pleasure of meeting and skiing eith Andy one May day at Killington. He will be and is missed.

Can't believe no EVH in this thread.

RIP Whitey. Unreal:

A 10-time All-Star known as "The Chairman of the Board," Ford compiled a 236-106 record with a 2.75 ERA and 45 shutouts in 16 seasons in the Bronx (1950, 1953-67).

The left-hander led the American League in wins three times and captured the 1961 Cy Young Award with a 25-4 record, a 3.21 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 283 innings.
