I just had a fella at Stewart's. Give me unsolicited reasons why EVs are not going to work. I let him know that he needs to go to the dentist and get his two teeth cleaned and probably should drop 50 lb and he might want to jump in the shower. Then he tells me I don't have to be rude.

How do you go and why? I'm headed to Charleston & Savannah with a stop near Raleigh next week and was planning on haulin' the trailer down 95

Where would you get onto I-95?
From Albany, the route I take south is to get onto I-88 to Binghamton, then I-81 all the way to VA. Can head back towards I-95 on US50 to US17 starting in Winchester. Then get onto I-95 outside Fredericksburg. The primary advantages are no tolls and completely avoiding NYC/NJ and Baltimore/DC traffic. The timing ends up pretty similar.
Sometimes I keep going on I-81 past Harrisonburg to I-64, then cut over to US29 south of Charlottesville. That's the route I take for Massanutten ski trips. US29 is 4-lane all the way to Danville with major bypasses for Lynchburg and Danville. Takes a little longer than going thru Fredericksburg but a more relaxing drive. Wouldn't do that towing a trailer though since the last section to connect to I-40 is NC87, which is 2-lane.
When I stay at Shawnee, I take I-81 and I-80 or I-81, I-78, US22, RT33, I-80 from Harrisburg. It's possible to take US15 and I-270 between Harrisburg and DC but only on weekends or very late at night when there isn't that much traffic.
When I do take I-95, I avoid the beltways for Baltimore and DC. Going south, I take Exit 1A (right after the Delaware House Travel Plaza) onto RT896 towards Mt. Pleasant and Middletown. Then US301 south towards Annapolis. At Bowling Green, I get onto RT207, which is a connector to I-95. RT896, US301, and RT207 are 4-lane divided highways, but do have some traffic lights in a few small towns.
Fair to say that I've driven assorted routes between Raleigh and the northeast in the past 40 years. The most common destinations in recent years have been Lake Placid, Boston, and Jiminy Peak (fall colors). Started trying alternatives long before GPS was invented. I was driving to Lake Placid for the North Country School alumni gathering most years starting in 1980. The traffic is far worse around DC these days. My brother lives in DC, so I've often driven I-85/I-95 between DC and Raleigh. At least the toll booths near Richmond went away decades ago.

I'm right off 22 in the Lehigh Valley, unless wayze tells me otherwise I was planning on picking up...
I'll usually defer up to 30-40 mins max to avoid traffic / stress ie. to get to the thruway I'll meander up 209 through the DNF and across 84 rather than race the NJ 78/287 speedway

Long ago I used to take RT209 when going between NC and Lake Placid. Would take I-95 to the Baltimore beltway, then go north on I-83 and head towards Allentown. For several years I stayed overnight in Port Jervis or Newburgh, then drove up to LP in daylight the next morning.
I usually have to force Waze to take the oddball route that goes via Winchester.
