My transition from petroleum continues. Someone totaled my wife's paid off 11 year-old subie (no one was in our car, the most important thing!). We ended up getting a good deal on a 5 year old bolt with low mileage, including only 8,000 miles on the battery (it was replaced with the very solid 2023 chemistry battery) after the recall.
Because of our solar set up, our combo expense on fueling two vehicles should be south of $500 per year - all from charging the R1s on road trips. The bolt will be a local commuter.
I don't think I will end up getting an electric heat pump due to a bunch of practical reasons specific to my house, but my hope is that i don't ever buy gasoline again. Good stuff.
PS -- I got coal rolled by a Ram today, again. Not sure why it always seems to be Rams. I just try to be chill about it and think about what in their life motivates them to coal roal a rando . . . .
