Hunter: Not Good, It's January

I'd like to see a comparison of capacity. It may be as good "in effect" but I'd be surprised if the capacity is equal.
I really dislike a lot of the changes at Belle over the last 5 or so years, but the snowmaking is silly. They were blowing snow mid afternoon today and it was nice to ski on right out of the gun. Not to many years ago blowing anything in those temps would have been unimaginable. You may be right about overall capacity, the giant open area around Broadway at Hunter is probably equal in acreage to several Belleayre trails. But even if you are, it seems like a distinction without a difference.

I remember, about 5 years ago, Hunter went from 0% terrain to 100% in 9 days when it was cold the entire time. You'd probably know better than I if Belle could do that now.

I agree with you about temps. I was there on Sunday and they were making good snow in the upper 20s. I really couldn't believe it, it wasn't grabby at all.

Right. But that doesn't mean that their capacity has changed.

Don't be so sure - the old WW2 Hunter pumps might not meet the Vail Efficiency Levels. They seemed to have taken them out of service.

I kind of assumed that Vail just wasn't using what they had. Which is not that different from what you are saying.

I wasn't trying to imply I was sure.

I'd be interested to know if they took those old monsters offline and when. During the time I was there regularly it seemed the snowmaking decline began under Peak when the North expansion was opened. Although it seems even worse now.
