Not good. It's January.

"Due to recent unfavorable weather conditions, Belt Parkway and Hunter North will be closed until the weekend. Nevertheless, our team is still working hard as ever to preserve our current terrain until colder temps come our way. We ask that you stay safe, have fun, and think cold!"

It's not even think snow. It's think cold.

I noticed their report looked bad. Down the road the Belleayre report looked much better. Haven't been out yet (in 2 years actually) so I have no first hand knowledge of this. Just found it surprising.

Belle gets way more natural, and their snowmaking is now at least as good as Huntahs. Plus they just spent millions on guns that can blow in marginal temps. I was skiing trees before xmas there, so I wouldn't be surprised if the base was better before this recent unpleasantness.

A sad, yet inevitable road since the passing of Orville Slutzky in 2013 (Izzy died in 2006). The Slutzky Borthers ran the Hunter snowmaking system whenever the conditions would allow. The lack of coverage over the last few seasons will continue to drive skiers elsewhere.

It is an interesting business plan that Vail has for Hunter, once known as "The Snowmaking Capital of the World".

I'd like to see a comparison of capacity. It may be as good "in effect" but I'd be surprised if the capacity is equal.

What is that business plan? Concentrate as many skiers and riders possible onto the least amount of terrain possible?
