Has anyone mountain biked Moreau SP or paddled the Hudson in that area? Lots of dams!

All of the above. Moreau Park was my front yard growing up and I now live within walking distance of the river. Moreau Park just expanded to include the mountain and river on one side of my neighborhood and the land along the river on the other side. There is talk of making a series of trails from Saratoga to LG along the Palmertown range. I would recommend taking a look at the area around the park (off exit 17) vs GF city proper. Trails and park galore.

Care to elaborate on how you pulled this off? I've been having an ongoing debate (nice way of putting it) with my wife about why we pay so much money to live close to the city if I could be fully remote, and she may only have to go in occasionally post covid.
Do you have a place in NYC? Did you drive to the city? Do you have kids, and if so how did you manage it?

It’s long and complicated but for 13 years I came up here to run a summer theatre for 2-3 months a year starting in 95 and freelanced as a manager of Broadway and Off Broadway shows the rest of the year. Always consider NYC home with an apt uptown but the summer theatre had an apt here for weekends the rest of the year. Left the summer theatre and went to work full time in NYC when the kid came and didn’t come here as much til we bought a house here in 2014 and it’s been weekends since then. 3 1/4 hrs is long for NYC weekends but we don’t mind the drive - we’re used to it.
We’ve mostly been here during Covid as my industry is totally shut down but I’m working remotely as the guy who has to plan how to bring it all back when we can. It’s an early glimpse at retirement maybe but we will be back in NYC when my son’s NYC public high school goes back to in person or the weather lets him skateboard with his friends again - tough for the teens having no social life but he’s skiing with me!
And my work will be insane when theatres open up again so I’m making the most of this...we’re lucky to have this place and this community.
Cousin’s daughter graduated from College of Charleston, moved to NYC and got a gig at "54 below” broadway thingy a bit before the vid came to town. It’s digital shows now and she works doing the digital marketing. Told her dad back in April if she wanted to get out of the city she could come up here and ride it out. She chose to stay in NYC. Kids these days...

Believe it or not we have a theatre here as well. We go a couple times a year and always enjoy it. It's good for we country boys to get a little culture now and then.

Yeah I know CRT a little - someone called me when they were doing their downtown building project maybe 10 years ago - we had done something similar in the old Glens Falls Woolworths in the early 2000s. Theatres and the arts can make a huge difference in old downtowns looking for new life...Believe it or not we have a theatre here as well. We go a couple times a year and always enjoy it. It's good for we country boys to get a little culture now and then.
