Hickory Ski Center Might Be Reopening

Last year I offered my service free to do do any Electrical worked needed in a private message on face book. No one ever got back to me. If they open, I would love to hit it!

They weren't in the frame of mind to open last year. Actually there was really no one there at all.

Change in plans, the date for pricing has been pushed back to 11/25. Website issues. Still going with the story later this week.

There is still a lot I don't know largely because they haven't finalized yet. I've seen tentative pricing and pass limits but they are only tentative. From what I can tell there will only be a very small number of passes or tickets available. If you really want to get on that hill, I'm guessing you'll have to move quickly, when it's all posted. Capacity has always been the issue. Hickory doesn't have the uphill capacity or terrain to be profitable with a normal model. And they certainly don't have the capacity to generate a revenue stream to pay off snowmaking. I'm sure Pass Math Bro will pass.

And off course all of this is somewhat moot, if it doesn't snow at 700 feet, in Warrensburg NY.

I wish them well but the way the weather has been the last 30 years I think it's a longshot to hope for natural snow.

Nobody at HSC is kidding themselves about that.

Noreasters should be best time to ski it.
Ha! That's a reliable source of snow huh.

They do actually get more lake effect than Gore. And Gore gets a least an inch or two a year.

Good to see that they're using the vintage logo on the new website:

I'd encourage anyone with even a mild interest in skinning or any of it to click on the link in the article, or above and sign up for the soon to come email update.

Hickory re-opening this season

"The rumors are true: The Legend rises this winter, as teased by this introductory video. Look for a second video and link to an updated website for details on how to be part of what’s happening here.

It’s important to note that we’ll be reopening under a new, community-oriented model that will allow us to be part of the Adirondack community for years to come. We feel it’s important not just to put out the offering, but to explain the problems this new mode of operation is designed to solve.

Stay tuned next week for the second video in the series, which will explain our unique challenges and how (with the help of our loyal public!) we will create a vibrant and sustainable ski area. "
