Hickory Ski Center Might Be Reopening

Anyone concerned about crowding if they do get a big dump now that they are on the Indy Pass and people who never had it on their radar are likely to head there?

From what I can tell, I think everyone is concerned about that.

From Storm Skiing post today: "Cronheim says Hickory will limit Indy redemptions to 30 per day and will offer another 30 tickets to the general public. "

Plus I assume a pretty high fraction of season ticket holders will show up on those days.

I should have said everyone but Erik.

30 is a good number. Hickory can comfortably handle 150 skiers at a time. How many passholders will there be?

According to Erik, industry average is that 20% of passholders show up on an average day, the max is somewhere around 60%. I'm assuming that is on a powder day.

I bet passholders will be motivated to push that industry max at Hickory.

I see Unofficial is still boosting our images without permission.

I spoke to Tim. The pic was on Hickory's site, and he assumed it was fair game. He agreed to add a credit.

That pic, this one...

Only two other entities have rights to it: Hickory and Powder Magazine.

Can you imagine having Dave Reddick ask you if he can use one of your pictures? I can 🤠

With 2 detachable pomas and a T-bar 150 sounds pretty low with good snow.
Don’t forget ya get to ski up.

There is a Donate button on the Ski Hickory homepage for people who would rather not send money to GoFundMe and have no reason to consider a season pass. That's different from donating to the non-profit 5013c Hickory Legacy Foundation.

What is the difference? What restrictions do the Legacy Foundation have that the gofund me donations don't?

I don't know. But any time there is a third-party collecting money, that's more complicated one way or another for the organization that will benefit.

Presumably someone who donates to the Legacy Foundation can get a tax deduction, if applicable to their tax situation.
