another relatively inexpensive alternative would be to pick up a cheap pair used frame bindings and skins and mounting up an old pair of skis just to get your feet wet. Usually seem to be a decent selection on the 'bay and tgrz

They already bought the adapters so what’s the problem with putting them to use? Opening the front buckles is a functional walk mode if that’s all you got. Dedicated AT bindings and boots are better but this is obviously a beginner so I don’t see what the big deal is.
