Nah I’d probably just use my rock Salomons. They’re ~84 at waist “all mountain”. The bump is far from a mountain.Theres nothing more thrilling than 200' vert on skinny metal edge xc skis!
Thanks Mike. They are called Daywreckers by some. Alpine Touring is a gear intensive sport, and that means $$. Trying to get your alpine (heavy) setup to work with an (heavier) adapter just doesn't work well. Also, downhill boots don't have a walk feature so that is another problem. If she is in college near Burlington, Bolton Valley has good season rentals on good gear.. Dynafit bindings etc. AT is great, but you need to have the right gear. They are sort of ok to give it a try, but if you really want to do it safely, you just have to get the gear.
Anybody know anything bout these?
Alpine Touring Bindings by Daymakers
Lightweight and reliable Alpine adapters that convert your downhill ski bindings into an AT ski touring setup in seconds, superior alternative to Trekkerwww.daymakertouring.com
^^ ThisThey work but not ideal.
The only place that I am aware of that rents and sells in NY is the Mountaineer in Keene Valley. Magic in VT also rents and might be worth the trip.Anybody rent/demo/sell decent AT stuff in NY? I’m outside The Cuse.

Thanks Captain Ripitz. Maybe next time I get to Gore I’ll check Mountaineer out.The only place that I am aware of that rents and sells in NY is the Mountaineer in Keene Valley. Magic in VT also rents and might be worth the trip.
