Fast Tracks: Paying to Cut the Line

Do you also disagree with somebody paying more for better seats at concerts/sports/plays? How about flying with economy/economy plus/business/first class? Paying to get up the mountain without waiting in line has been around for decades.
No one gives any thought to those things because they have been around forever, People pretty much accept the world as it is, and oppose changes that make the situation even a little bit worse.
It's the new extension the "caste system" into the lift lines that people find objectionable. The fact that similar pricing practices are common elsewhere means that it will be harder to push back against it, which only makes it worse.

Because of none of those examples effect my experience. Someone sitting in first class or courtside doesn't negatively effect me in coach or the nosebleeds. Adding a line cutting option for the rich detracts from time on snow for everyone else.
Agreed, I don’t usually ski weekends anyway but If I’m in line and the same people are lapping the line I’m never going back to that ski area.

I’d like to see them try this concept at the Bar LOL

I don't think that's true. Unless you actually prefer nosebleeds to courtside, some rich guy has priced you out of the good seats. The logic of fast pass is as undeniable as the emotional objection to it is predictable.
FWIW the real definition of "rich" is "you have enough money (or power) to get the best of everything." That's the world we live in, except for maybe Cuba.

Ok so we all know tricks to get through the line quicker. It bothers people who watch us do yet we do it.
Everyone's gut reaction is it's not fair. The fact that we do the same thing in other ways is deemed a non issue.

FWIW I have complained to management about lazy lift line attendants filling up every chair via the singles line instead of trying to match up group sizes.

Yeah it's a shitty job, I get it, but it greatly effects costumer experience and perception of how a place is run.

That's not the trade off. You are assuming that there is some amount of money that will satisfy Powdr. They will never ask the question "do we have enough?" It's always "how do we get more?"

The optimistic view is that the added revenue will attract more investment and improve the experience for everyone. Unless this is just extracting as much cash as possible before climate change and demographics crush the business model.

I think they ask the question "is that enough all the time". How could they not.
