Earliest Big Event You Remember

i have a few
i remember watching the Apollo 11 moon walk. 1972 Munich Olympics the good and the bad...
the bad the Israeli massacre , the worst call in sports history ( US vs Russia men's basketball)
the good Mark Spitz..

This is a good topic. I have a few. And, more will come to mind in the future. Then I'd have to compare to figure out which is earliest. As of now, I remember the 1972 Munich massacre; I remember the Dolphins perfect season, but that was later in 1972. I think I also may remember the year before too, when they lost to the Cowboys in the big game. If not, subconsciously, it is still the root of my disdain for the Cowboys franchise. I'll have to edit when I think of more.

***WARP, I've heard all the stories of the NY "Jints" as my grandfather called them. Despite eventually moving to Brooklyn, he was a lifetime diehard fan. (even after the move). And, if anyone has not seen the Polo Grounds, go online and find some old photos. It's incredible that they played baseball there!

Two things that come to mind are the assassination attempt on President Reagan, and the space shuttle Challenger explosion. I was in grammar school then. I also have a couple memories of the bicentennial. I would have been 3 at the time.

Great idea for a topic!

Blizzard of 78. I was 4. I don't remember the actual snow totals, but the memory of being at the end of our driveway with piles of snow that were at least twice my height will be with me forever.
I remember that one. The drifts in our driveway were probably six feet deep, taller then anyone in my family at least

I remember watching President Kennedy's funeral procession on the TV. That's the absolute earliest. We watched the Apollo 11 landing while camping in Acadia National Park. Someone brought a tiny B & W TV and the whole campground was crowded around it. So much static in the picture, I could barely make it out.

The earliest big event I remember is JFK's funeral. I remember my mother ironing in the living room while watching on TV and she started crying. I was playing on the floor and didn't really know what was on TV and I asked her why she was crying. I was 3yrs. 9 mo. old.

Riding home in the back of the station wagon after pee wee football practice they broke in announcing Elvis died. Still remember the exact spot we were in. Go figure.
