Driving in NY

I've never had an issue other than a bumper ding in NYC.. :) . I also ride bikes a ton in NYC.
The rule I follow is.. And it was the first thing my Dad taught me - IF you are going to do something - just do it. Don't make people guess - that's when accidents happen. And a lot of that is being aware and not distracted too.

That's what I finally figured out. Just put your turn signal on and go. It was tough to get used to.

Anyone that does not use CC should have their licenses taken away. If someone even tries to debate it I will say you are part of the problem. There is no way you keep consistent speeds with a foot. Adaptive cruise can be annoying on the highway. You are day dreaming away and then notice you are going 65. Cars speedometers seem to be about two miles per hours slower than they read. My cruise speeds, 65/76 55/65 45/53 40/45 30/36. Adaptive on country roads are nice. You set your cruise and the car adjusts, when the slow poke get out of the way you are back up tp speed.
In NYC drive like you are trying to win a race.

If I am going 76 down the highway passing and someone comes up my butt they just have to wait till I get by I don't speed up, I'm not getting a ticket and am going plenty fast.
Does anyone pay attention to the people going slow in the left lane? I do and I will leave it at that.

On highways I agree I have learned to appreciate it on two lane roads.

My pet peeve lately is people that come to a stop when they have the right of way and start waving for me to pull out in front of them. If everybody learned right of way and just followed the rules, everything would move along faster

Right?!??? What are those people thinking, they're creating more of a hazard than anything. I won't do it. I'll sit in my truck until they get all pissed off at me and finally move. Sometimes the reactions are quite funny.

Some times you can tell they’re looking for a thank you wave and annoyed that they’re not getting it. Meanwhile I’m in my car telling my son “that asshole is gonna cause an accident “

get a radar detector. made the investment 10 years ago. well worth it.

I'm content at the speeds I'm going. I don't think the radar detector would lower my blood pressure.

May sound corny but ultimately the speed limit is for my protection, I'm content violating it within certain limits.

Same here Harv

Back in my day I used to rip around pretty good but I also had cars/sport bikes built to handle it. Now that I lived through all of that I'm not in any big hurry to get somewhere. That's what winter and sleds are for.
