Driving in NY

The problem with cruise control is the people who don't understand you can still hit the gas to pass someone going slightly slower then get back in the right lane and your cruise speed will resume. They'll take 20 minutes to inch past someone who is going one tenth of a mph slower.

Valid point- though I would blame the driver’s Defective brain for that one.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion: NY drivers are actually pretty good. Even NYC drivers, where there's a completely different and completely unwritten code, are generally pretty good (although one shitty driver can screw the whole thing up spectacularly). When I go elsewhere, I can't believe how bad they drive. Florida is the worst of all.

I drove into NYC once and it was WILD!!! If there's a code, not only is it unwritten, but it is invisible. LOL If I lived there the only thing I would drive is a beater with a big V8.

My right foot is cruise control.

Boston metro area is the scariest place I've ever driven.

LOL back in the day I used to drive a Step Van with a 3 speed in NYC..I was kinda fun..
Florida is dangerous because , imo 2 factors.. Young lunatic drivers and very old slow drivers...Bad combo..

Driving in Italy was a bit of a white knuckler , but so much fun, ya gotta love the challenge..

My territory was the west side of Manhattan at one point. I drove in Every day and got around to my accounts by car. It was like playing a video game. Parking was a lot easier back then.

I have to agree that driving in Rome is crazy. Rush hour is 8 lanes of traffic going around a circle at 70 miles an hour with Vespas cutting across lanes in front of you and horns blaring. But there appears to be very few accidents considering. I guess it is organized chaos.
Portugal is crazy to. They only have one short divided highway. On the two lane roads people pass on blind corners and hills. If there is a car coming the other way, that car and the car being passed move to the shoulder and the passing car goes through the middle. The problem occurs when there are cars passing in both directions. They don't bring a wrecker then. They bring a broom.

I've never had an issue other than a bumper ding in NYC.. :) . I also ride bikes a ton in NYC.
The rule I follow is.. And it was the first thing my Dad taught me - IF you are going to do something - just do it. Don't make people guess - that's when accidents happen. And a lot of that is being aware and not distracted too.

Craziest traffic I've EVER seen is in India. It was amazing to me that people just weren't straight up getting hit and dying.. It's 100% f'ing organized chaos. Cars going the wrong way - horns honking - tuktuks crossing the street - animals all over the place.. I thought it was hilarious.
