Belle and Platte have always had a warm, mutually supportive relationship.
I think this depends highly upon who you ask.

Sorry, I assumed that most people here are aware of the history between these two ski areas.I couldn't tell...I thought so, but I figured I'd just tell it like is.
A blog post from Laz from June 25, 2013, commenting on the Belleayre expansion. Here we are, almost 8 years later and, as I predicted, the expansion of Belleayre and the connection to Highmount still does not exist. Adding the gondola seems to have been a 1 shot deal from the Emperor Cuomo the Second.Sorry, I assumed that most people here are aware of the history between these two ski areas.
Perhaps the long-time active posters. But there are probably also people who lurk and/or have recently discovered the forum. This thread has almost 1000 Views already. That's what happens when there isn't much else happening and there is a good topic.Sorry, I assumed that most people here are aware of the history between these two ski areas.

I believe that’s how I found the NYSkiBlog. I was researching the Belleayre expansion to better understand it during that time period and found that post. Definitely opened my eyes to the realities of the situation. Also found the Bearpen and Skiing the Catskill 3500 stories around that same time. All of which are great posts and are significantly important to the area.Laszlo Vajtay on the Belleayre Mountain Expansion
The Belleayre Mountain expansion could hurt the local businesses it will compete against. My ski area, Plattekill, is one of those businesses.nyskiblog.com
