Catamount Conditions

Catamount was pretty nice today. The snow was firm, but skiing really well early in the day. It started to get scraped off as the day went on, but I touched up my edges at lunch and kept going. None of their real steep stuff seemed to be open, which was a bummer. They have a couple of nice little easy glades, but the potential for so much more. Great day all around.

Drove by Catamount today looking pretty shiny.

Wow! Catamount is putting in two new lifts. The blog update includes a FB video explaining them.

The new summit lift is a bunch of used Poma parts. I believe the drive is from the old Valley House Double at Sugarbush, the towers are from a retired high speed quad from somewhere in Colorado, and the chairs are the leftovers from when West Mountain relocated the triple from The Hermitage Club, and when Catamount relocated Berkshire East's old Summit Triple. I could be wrong about the chairs and drive, I'll know more when I see more pictures of the lift. Since the lift has quad gauge towers, it can be converted to a quad in the future. The other lift, which is replacing the Catamount Double is a 2001 Garaventa-CTEC model from Holiday Valley. It operated there as the Yodeler Quad, and is being replaced by a high speed quad.
