Anyone have info on what the skiing will be like at Catamount/Berkshire East/Bousquet this season? For us that need to ski weekends how crowded do u think it will be? Will it be more or less crowded for day or night skiing? I’m guessing that even if it gets kind of bad it will be nowhere near the EPIC lines I have experienced at Mount Snow and Okemo last year?
We are trying to find a non-Vermont less crowded option that’s close to Albany.
I’ve only been to catamount once on a warm March day mid week and it was a total blast. We had the place to ourselves. I really liked it. Not sure if that was the exception to the rule.

Your experience was typical. Not sure how current circumstances will affect things but I agree that it will probably be more manageable then Epic mountains. Even though it’s a little bigger And busier, Jiminy is another good option midweek.

Bousquet is pretty small. Not sure that would be worth the drive from Albany. I stopped by once to look at the base when I was in Pittsfield during the off-season.

Berkshire East is a better but harder to reach than Catamount. BEast seems to draw mostly from eastern MA, with few people driving there from CT/NYC. Has plenty of terrain variety once everything is open.

The main advantage at Jiminy Peak is the high-speed detachable 6-pack that serves what seems to be 80% of the terrain for all ability levels from green to double-black (if open), including the black trails that are rarely groomed. Also has a mid-mountain lift to the second peak that I doubt is ever that busy. What they usually do is the that upper lift only runs until mid-afternoon, and then start up a base double for the afternoon and night session. Night sessions start at 3pm, so can get in a lot of turns on a weekend if willing to ski into the lights.

We ended up going with a Locals pass to Catamount/BE/BQ. catamount and Bosquet are one hour or less from our house and my husband has ski instructor training at catamount so that was a factor with why we chose them.

Just stopped by Bousquet today to see the progress going on, 15 new smi super pole cannon fan guns, 12 will be fixed, 3 on sleds, 25 new smi snow guns also their, looks like the triple from from haystack is their as well, sitting in the parking lot, all the footings in for the triple, lots of new green pipes all over the Mtn, while Bousquet is small, they have some neat trails, just the ride ends quick, jiminy is great, catamount is great, never skied Berkshire East lots of people like it

That’s great news about Bousquet! It’s nice to hear they are investing in small local communities!

Bummer. The last few years, if you had a NY metro council ski club membership card, you could walk up to the Catamount window and score a twenty dollar midweek pass. That is probably out this year.
