Bristol Conditions

My wife skied today-she described it as "interesting" "sugar, ice, death cookies", but she skied across the mountain. Not sure about tomorrow-I may go to see the grandkids in their programs, but if I do, I'm keeping my expectations low. Hard to maintain a decent surface with the temp swings, thaws, rain and wind we've had . :(

Hit most all the runs at Bristol this morning. Given mother natures misery I guess it was as good as could be expected. It was like skiing on crushed gravel over pavement. Very noisy and firm. Icy spots but could generally edge and avoid ice patches. Southern cross to sunset was my favorite today because of conditions. Milky-way and Nova were decent sugar snow as well as the loop. Maybe if the sun came out it would soften things up.

Made 11 runs then hit Other Half brewery on the way home. All in all a good day to be outside skiing and getting fresh air.

Think cold!

Saw the gray and couldn't get motivated.............supposed to be sunny and warmer tomorrow-I'm planning on going down.

Tomorrow definitely looks like a better day for sure, especially with the sun. My schedule doesn't permit skiing tomorrow, but I plan to spend a fair amount of time outside.

Will be interested to hear how it is.

Have fun!

Nice bluebird day! Skied until about 2:00 with softening snow. Skied Upper and Lower Universe for the first time this year-the whales on Upper weren't bad but the drop in is quite icy. Lower was very nice especially early-we did the cut over from Upper Galaxy a couple of times. Crowds were reasonable for a warm, sunny Sunday. Outer Orbit closed around 10:30 or so for a U-10/U-12 race-not a big deal. Lots of people on decks enjoying the sun. Perfect spring skiing day-too bad it's mid February........................

Wow! Beautiful day in the sun with spring skiing conditions! Missed yesterday with a scratchy throat and the blahs but made up for it today. Got out around 9:15 or so and we had slowly softening conditions. By noon, it was we had soft piles. Took a break and switched to my wider, softer skis. Was ready to quit around 1:30, but ran into some friends and skied for another hour.

Universe was outstanding if you like moguls and whales. The skiers left softened up by 10:30 or so (on the Upper part) and was a blast which only got better as the day went on. Lower Universe was groomed but almost unskied my first run-the groomers left a nice wide trail through the trees to get back to the main lift without walking. Trail of the day!

Only drawback is that it's February 14th, not the end of March...................

Skied for about 2 1/2 hours this morning until the tank was empty on my legs from yesterday and the cold I'm fighting took over. Sunny, very warm and quite windy-all bad news for the snow cover. By the time I left, bare spots were emerging and some of the slopes were getting water saturated spots. Not good........BTW, Galaxy chair was running.

Kinda glad we're not racing tonight-course would be rough and rutted.

Thanks Johnny, I was wondering how quickly terrain was being lost. Sounds like they could be on the verge of losing trails. Let's hope they can make snow Friday and Friday night. Then again starting early next week it looks like more opportunity.

Do you think water is going to be an issue? That big pond out front was looking fairly low last Saturday.
