Bristol Conditions

Just an FYI-I've heard and been told they will be shutting the Comet detachable next week to shorten the haul rope they replaced last summer. I've heard Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. I can't imagine they will do it on MLK Monday. If you're planning on visiting those days, be prepared to ride the Rocket FG triple and enjoy the leisurely ride up the hill.

Hey @Johnny V. Any recon for Bristol today (Saturday)? Wondering if Sunset will be open tomorrow?
Skipped today, but I'm taking the three granddaughters tomorrow. The 10 and 8 year old are going to do the Aloha Race on Morning star and the 12 year old (who's "too cool" to race) will be doing her park rat stuff. Actually very proud of all of them and how their skiing has developed.

Of course we'll have to leave around 12:00 so we can get to their house to watch the Bills game. Go Bills!

As reported, the Comet detachable was down for haul rope shortening, so our only choice was the Rocket triple.Left the house in rain/freezing rain which stopped by the time I got out on the hill about 9:30. Ran beer league training gates in soft nicely groomed snow. Upper Galaxy and Lower Meteor are open for an alternative route down the mountain. Sunset looks about ready, but not open. The rain (and maybe the announced chair closure) kept people away-probably the quietest I've seen in quite a while. Just a tough winter, as soon as snow is made, the temps warm up and it runs back down the hill..............

Down last night for beer league racing. Pretty heavy snow and it started raining partway though the race. Surprise!-Sunset is open. Passed on today as I'm really tired of skiing in the rain...................

Love your updates. Hate this weather like all of us. It's like perpetually living in early April. Yuk!

Interesting day today. We started late, around 10:15 or so and missed most of the rain. There was about 2" or so of wet, heavy snow from the top to about halfway down the mountain. Top flats were grabby and slow and the steeper parts had small heavy moguls. The bottom half was soft groomed and nice, with light rain on and off.Not a bad day and it was very quiet (big surprise!).

Looks like Comet will be closed on Saturday and Sunday for a youth Super G race, so make your plans accordingly. Should be good viewing from the chair-some of these kids are good racers!

Another gray day at Bristol with slight freezing rain and a few snowflakes which cleared up around 11:00 or so. Gate training on Comet which was well groomed, somewhat icy on Upper Rocket and Galaxy. They're doing a great job of grooming what they have-the hated sugar snow that we had on Sunday on the lower part of the hill is gone. Some snow is predicted for tomorrow and Thursday which is great except we have a beer league race tomorrow night............not looking forward to slipping the loose stuff off the line for a third week. I heard a rumor we may see some sun on Friday-not sure how I'll deal with actually being able to see! I know, lots of complaints.......................:)
