Big SNOW Conditions and TRs

I’d bet on donuts as a better return on investment than the folks runnin that place into the ground.
They probably use the same accounting principles, or lack thereof, as Rutgers Athletics.
Have you ever looked at the business model for the Mall of America or the Edmonton Mall? Triple Five is a Canadian family business that has been around for a while. I think they'll figure out a way to keep going with American Dream Meadowlands. What's less likely is that the American Dream mall proposed for southern Florida will get built. Pre-pandemic the plan was to start construction in 2021. But obviously that didn't happen. The start of construction to re-do and complete American Dream Meadowlands was delayed multiple times over several years.

The building that Big SNOW uses was completed by the original developer. The one who called the project Xanadu. All that was needed was to repaint the exterior to get rid of those awful stripes. The quad and snowmaking system were installed and operational when Snow Operating took over.

Hope repairs can be made in the next few weeks. I'm supposed to meet up with friends at Big SNOW the weekend of the Plattekill Work Day.

I don’t do malls or cities either.
Try to avoid em like the plague.
I spend very little time in malls when at home. I'm not a shopper in general. My husband does a good part of the grocery shopping. However, I find it interesting to compare "destination malls" when traveling. The way the multi-story malls were built in Singapore back in the 1970s made far more sense than the sprawling style with a monolith surrounded by a huge surface parking lot that were built in the NC Triangle around the same time. Have been to the Mall of America once, mainly because my brother-in-law lives in St. Paul. It has a very different feel than American Dream.

American Dream was hoping not only for domestic travelers to New York City, but also international travelers. Needless to say, the pandemic scrambled that idea. At this point, NJ has far to much invested to let it fail.

There will be an H-Mart and a Walgreens (or CVS?) near the Entrance A, which is where Big SNOW is located. That end of the the mall is clearly geared to more to locals more than the other sections with high end clothing shops.

I walked around after skiing on the day it officially opened for retail. It’s insane how big it is and how much is still under construction. Covid might have been the latest bump but it’s been a disaster from the start- one bankruptcy, missed deadline & dumb idea after another.

Cuse has a big mall.
No skiing but ya can still ride the merry-go-round.

Probably won't be open in October.

*Updated Information 9/30 3pm*

Thank you for your continued support and patience following the fire that occurred last Saturday. We are happy to report that thanks to the quick and expert response of the Meadowlands Fire Department, with the assistance of local fire departments, the damage was contained to only a small area of the snow dome, and because of the hard work of our maintenance team, the building has been able to keep temperature throughout this incident minimizing our snowpack loss.

We have now begun the steps to move towards reopening, which includes: cleaning, repairing, replacing and re-inspecting those items affected by the fire. To allow this work to happen, we will need to extend our closure several more weeks and will be refunding all pre-purchased visits through October 31st as a precaution. If you previously had an admission purchased for this timeframe, your refund will be processed automatically and there is no need to contact us unless you have further issues or questions.

We will continue to update our community on an official date when we can welcome you back to Big SNOW. Thank you again for your overwhelming love, patience and support.

-The Big SNOW Team
