Big SNOW Conditions and TRs

Almost forgot . . . about parking. Currently the first hour is free and then $3 for the entire day after that.

Big SNOW is on Level 2 of American Dream. Section A parking is best. Can park on any level but Level 1 is the best. There is an escalator and an elevator. From Level G (turn right after getting the parking ticket), taking the elevator (look right) is clearly the easiest with gear. The advantage of Level 1 (up and to the left) is that there are more spaces relatively close to the door. What happens on Level 2 is that it's a long walk to the side door. That was fine in July when I didn't have any gear to carry.

On Monday I arrived at American Dream in time to eat a leisurely lunch before going skiing. Parked close enough that going back to get gear after lunch was not a big deal. The food court sponsored by Coca Cola has a good variety of fast food, not just burgers. There is a pizza place close to the Big SNOW entrance. Also saw a sign for German Doner on Level 2. Bonus for my lactose-intolerant daughter in July was the dairy-free ice cream place (next to pizza).

Looking down at Level 1. Doors are past the yellow posts.

Arrived an hour early and tailgated in the parking deck for lunch 90 degrees but a nice breeze. ( Marz Thanks for the great parking tip)
First in line and almost first chair. The 25f was awesome, I wanted to drop and roll in the snow but my clothes were still warm lol. Warmed up on the “ Blue side “
My son wanted to hit the park stuff but I made him take a couple runs first as the night before we looked at last year’s boots and his feet had grown so much that they were longer than the boots lol. I left him use my daily drivers and adjusted his bindings ( glad I bought him demos) Starting at 1 worked out we didn’t see a line till 2:15 .
Great time and glad I worked out gear issues before officially starting the season.
97f on the way home ?

Lots of people hitting the fence last night for some reason

It was fun. It’s certainly more fun going with my kids than it is just doing laps by myself.

A kid was killed in England at an indoor snow place yesterday.
While sledging, which translates to American english as sledding.
Vibes to the family and folks who were there.
Stay safe folks.

Some details about the fire on Liftblog. Started around 4am. There is a pictures of flames taken from outside the building. No injuries but clearly damage that must be assessed. Big SNOW closed until at least Oct. 2.

Very sad.

At Big SNOW the sledding is only on tracks next to the teaching area. At the snow dome there were sleds on the same snow as skiers.

Big SNOW is putting out a consistent message. I got an email update this morning since I'm on their elist.

"Thank you for the outpouring of concern and encouragement this morning in regards to the fire we experienced overnight. We are grateful to report that there were no injuries as the incident occurred outside of our normal hours of operation. We can promise you that Big SNOW will be back and better than ever, just as soon as we can safely do so. At this point, we are uncertain of how long that will take. Unfortunately, we will be closed at least through October 2nd as we assess the total damage and repairs needed to re-open. Please keep your eyes out for further announcements on our expected re-opening via our website, social media channels and emails.

For any guests who booked for visits during this time period, we will automatically refund your purchases and there is no need to contact us. Refunds can take up to 3-5 business days to post."
