Belleayre Conditions

Just finished up, pretty fun out there! Lift 6 was down all morning which was annoying, but, came with the benefit of keeping all the people off the east side. All morning we were skating over to Mohawk, Wanatuska, Belleayre and eventually Winnisook. When 6 finally opened it was stopping so ended up going back to the Gondi which was also going slow for part of the day. Finally around 1, 6 started running normally so so finished up there.

Snowed most of the day, probably ended up with 6+” and it fell right side up, it was wetter overnight, dried out today.

I also got caught up in the Super Chief fiasco today. As far as Belle has come in the last few years there's still that ORDA go f'yerself customer service mentality when it comes to communication. First we waited 20 minutes watching patrol ride up and down with no information on what we were waiting for. All the trails were already open.

Once patrol gave the go ahead the lifty finally communicated something "we can't load until maintenance fixes a sensor, it could be fast but I can't give you an exact time". You or patrol couldn't have told us that earlier? After waiting 10 more minutes I asked her how much longer, she looked at me, ignored me, and went back to her phone. I gave up and walked out to the gondi

I don't blame her personally but this is classic ORDA. Just like waiting at SBQ for patrol to confirm new snow fell on every single trail without any communication or timelines.

The snow was nice today

Yeah something similar happened when I was there on New Year's day. Gondola and west side trails were on hold for grooming, which was the right call. But they didn't tell anyone in line that the Lightning Quad and Superchief were open on-time. The more that things change, the more they stay the same.

Absolutely glorious day at Belle.

I've only been skiing for a few seasons and I'm finally getting comfortable off the groomers. Today I stuck to the glades and bumps mostly. Highlights were Cathedral Brook, Utsayantha, and Dreamcatcher, none of which were (technically) open :D .

Thinking I will head up that way tomorrow if the stars align, with an additional 3-5 forecasted and a chance of mixed precipitation Thursday morning I'm thinking tomorrow will be the best choice for the rest of the week.

Ooh Utsayantha is open, that means the whole mountain should be open. Good stuff. How much snow did they get in these past storms? Thinking of sneaking up sunday.

Well, I had to duck under an orange rope so it's not exactly "open". :D But it's eminently skiable.

Dreamcatcher glades are wonderful. Cathedral Brook has one place where you have to dismount and walk.

Nice! I was tempted do the glades yesterday but thought it needed a few more inches. Glad somebody here got em
