Are you a picker?

The Cubco bindings did require a screw-on attachment on the ski boot.
Yup.
My first skis had Cubcos using laceup boots to boot.
Graduated to dang Spademan bindings without a toe piece but a plate on the sole.
Walking on ice with those things was much harder than skiing using em.
Dr Spademan was a bone doctor.

I learned on Spademans. Very frustrating at first , any little bit of snow that was stuck to the bottom plate would be trouble. I have to wonder how many people got frustrated and gave up on skiing?

I grew to like them , never felt unsafe.
The boots required a flat spot on the arch for mounting. They created a flat adapter plate for boots with an arch .

So ya get a patent for a binding to protect folks from breaking legs when falling skiing...

But they left out the slipping & sliding side effects when ya don’t have skis on for stability.🤔
