@tirolski NCAA ski schools are generally Division 1 or Division 2 schools. USCSSA is smaller schools. Division 3 and even intramural ski clubs. Some people might scoff that it's not as high a level of skiing, but it's a good way to get people involved. And some of them really bring it.
Some years back, I was skiing at Prospect the same day as a USCSSA 10 km race. The woman who finished last was on hand-me-down touring skis, she wasn't as fit as I was then, her technique wasn't great. She struggled up Andy's Climb, a f'n wall near the end of the loop, made it to the finish, and collapsed. She's never going to the Olympics, but she had heart and totally brought it just like Diggins or Shifrin. Link on USCSSA:

Also, FWIW, some D1 ski schools field USCSA teams. Dartmouth is an NCAA ski powerhouse, they field a. Lub team in USCSA.Cornell is Division 1 in many other sports. So is Colgate, especially winter sports.
