Any Day, Any Race

With ORDA’s funding of 3 major ski centers and Mt Van Hoevenburg in NY why aren’t there any NY college participants in the NCAA championships going on currently in Lake Placid?
2 from St Lawrence. Had to qualify at a regional to get here for the finals. Not sure how many NY schools have NCAA race teams. Probably more club teams and pretty sure they don't get to qualify.

That and name a college within any reasonable distance from an ORDA mountain?

Well, Middlebury can be at practice at the snow bowl in 15 minutes. No college program is going to be hours away from a mountain. The only NYS schools I could see having a ski team are an Ithaca College (Greek Peak) type school/location.

Cornell is closer than Ithaca College to Greek.

Speaking strictly nordic, St Lawrence University is 70 minutes from Paul Smiths VIC, 1h 45m from Lake Placid. The VIC is a reasonable driving distance. UVM train at Trapp Family Lodge, a 454 minute ride.

OTOH proximity to a training venue doesn't automatically produce top athletes. Williams College is half an hour from Prospect, only 1 [nordic] athlete at NCAAs.

There are at least 3 xc skiers at NCAAs this year who've had World Cup starts. That makes it harder to get a spot too.
How do ya define “reasonable"?

@tirolski Max Cobb, former head of USA Biathlon, told me that athletes needed to be within an hour's drive of a venue.

Colgate and Cornell are both members of United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSSA). Different governing body than NCAA.
