Alpine Touring Thread

Check out the Koms if you want to rip. If you want more of a snowshoe experience go with the Hoks.
interesting. never heard of these. seems like they would be great in the helderbergs. lots of tight shoots that are not managed. curious what type of bindings you have on these?

I don’t have them but they are on my wishlist. I think I would get them with the Scarpa T4s and Switchback bindings. Looks like a great bushwhacker ski. For distance, XC skis are preferred, for turns AT reigns supreme. These fall right in the middle. Sizing down to a 162 is recommended for swinging them around in the trees. Good review here on Telemark Talk.

This guy rips.

Thanks.
Mainly looking for old fart winter exercises and enjoyments. It’d be nice to go faster than snow shoes. Just looking to safely cruise down some smooth slopes as well as walks in the woods. Tain’t too rocky around here and most rocks are round. There are lots of trees though.

If I want speed and/or lots of turns I’ll go to the local lift served monopoly bumps with my nice skis.
Search for skis with fish scaled bases. I’m not familiar at all but it used to be a thing and it could make the type of experience you’re talking about a lot smoother and chill. A lot of transitions for smaller hills might become annoying.

Can confirm. Scales FTW.

Thanks again Rip.
Might just have to get me some old country boots to boot, either new or used.
Bought new BOA ski boots last year, they might work for starters...

Whatabout these?
I don’t wanna bang the bejesus outta my knees.

Yup there is. Thanks for the reminder.
What’s the difference(s) between bcXCD & alpine touring? Seems they overlap some.

I just wanna simply go play on snow with some skis.

It’s similar to how I simply play on grass with some golf clubs.

The look like the 10 mountain division . I have the g3 binding. It has the lever in the front so I can lock them into 4WD. light plastic boot. That ain't fast but they can go just about anywhere. I would use them on song mountain.
