Any Day, Any Race

Let's give it up for Paula Moltzan as long as we're talking US women's skiing.

Yuuuuge day in Falun, Sweden, for the US xc ski team. In the 20 km mass start skate, Gus Schumacher nabs his second career podium, just 0.3 seconds from the win. Falun features one of the most fearsome climbs on the World Cup, the infamous Mörderbakken, or Murder Hill. The only hill Bjorn Dæhlie said he was afraid of.

Diggins takes the win in the women's 20 km skate, and Julia Kern has her best ever finish in a distance race. Things are looking good for the World Championships.

2025 Nordic World Championships. Norway's Johannes Hosflot Klæbo goes 6 for 6. Gold in individual sprint, team sprint, 10 km, 20 km, relay, and finally, the 50 km. The 50 km was a brutalismo slushfest. Grudging admiration as he surpasses one of my heroes, Bjorn Dæhlie.

Worlds this year are in Trondheim, Norway, right on the ocean. Between that and warm transformed snow, a struggle for USA wax technicians.
