Gore Mountain Conditions

Damn....
Do I need a special pass to get into that NYSKIBLOG.COM lounge???
Probably even comes with preferred parking!
I expect to see "What's in your Wallet" Jennifer Garner putting on her boots!
I wonder.... Ski boots or boarder boots???

Stellar morning at the mountain. Looks like snowmaking wrapping up as temps warm for a day or so. Even Twister was hit again with piles.

About 5” of sugar on top of the surface this morning, nice powder runs, and huge flakes and another quick inch or two mid morning. No change over to rain so far, and looks like Gore weathered the storm.

With the snow forecast this weekend and cold to follow conditions WILL be as good as they get.

Thank you Gore and ORDA Management for pivoting after a slow, tough start. The concerted team effort not only figured out the state of the art snowmaking system but also turned it up to max for the last few weeks. And Mother Nature decided to pitch in as well

This was in Glens Falls Chronicle today... Since it concerns Ski Bowl and some might not get Chronicle I am posting it here. Of course I do not understand most of it. But I know others on here do.
Warren County
OK’s $2.5-million
in Oc Tax for ORDA
Ski Bowl project ;
some opposition
By Cathy DeDe
Chronicle Managing Editor
The Warren County Board of Supervi-
sors on Monday approved $2.5 million in
Occupancy Tax Funds for the Town of
Johnsburg — but not without dissent.
The last-minute request was to close a
funding gap in the North Creek Munici-
pal Wastewater Treatment Plant project,
required so the State Olympic Regional
Development Authority can go forward
with its plan to build a 120-room lodge
and other amenities at the North Creek
Ski Bowl. It’s set to open this Fall.
Johnsburg has already committed $7.6
million to the Wastewater plant project.
The $2.5 million is to be dispersed in
10 annual payments of $250,000, begin-
ning this year.
Johnsburg Supervisor Kevin Bean said
they were hoping ORDA would bear the
additional cost, but that didn’t pan out.
“As of Feb. 19, our bids expire on the
project. We would have to go back to vot-
ers and there’s a good chance it would not
pass,” Mr. Bean said, and ORDA would
not open their lodge in September.
He said they are in contact with agen-
cies and “we have other options for fund-
ing,” that he described as promising, “but
they would not come to fruition, if they
come to fruition, until April or May.”
“This is a Hail Mary pass,” Mr. Bean
said. He said if the other hoped-for fund-
ing comes through, they would not take
the Oc Tax funds.
Mr. Crocitto, who chairs the county’s
Occupancy Tax committee, where the re-
quest was first heard on Monday prior to
the County Board meeting, objected.
He said he is concerned it sets a prec-
edent of Oc Tax funds being used for in-
frastructure. Others echoed this issue.
Mr. Crocitto also worried about tying
up too much of the County’s Occupancy
Tax funds with such municipal projects.
“We already have four (similar) re-
quests coming in,” he said.
County Attorney Larry Elmen said,
“Absolutely definitely, by local law” Oc
Tax funds may be used for municipal
infrastructure projects, so long as they
directly support tourism. He pointed to
the County support of the Cool Insuring
Arena in Glens Falls, for example.
Queensbury At-Large Supervisor Mike
Wild suggested, “Let’s take some Oc Tax
and build a fund for infrastructure.
He said, “This is a tragicomedy. Every-
thing is last minute. There’s serious con-
sequences no matter which way we go.”
Mr. Wild pointed to the risk the County
took funding Winter Dreams at the Fort
William Henry in Lake George (without
naming that project). He said, “We think
we will get paid back but that may not
happen. Is this one worth the risk now?”
Queensbury Town Supervisor John
Strough said, “I’m very sympathetic....On
the other hand, we said no to many of the
non-profits (requesting Oc Tax funding)
because we said we didn’t have enough
money. I think ORDA needs to step in
here and do what’s right.”

Ok, so there's a saying that reads you gotta go to know, and today was the perfect example of that wonderful saying!
I woke to about 3' of dense, but not wet, snow at my HQ. Around 6:15 I shoveled the decks, and then fired up the Kioti and cleared the driveway. Around 6:45 it changed to a very light icy precip and temp was 23F. Got to Ski Bowl at 7:45 and still same precip and temp. Loaded lift with the OG's Suds and Duck around 8:15, of course started with 46R, and it was on from there! JJ's next then off to the Burnt for Sagamore Barkeater, and Boreas, and then coming of BRQ it started puking snow and the we headed to Tahawus Glades, and it was sublime!
Still puking, from the top of the North we opted to do Chatterbox to Gondi and head up to Killcare, then Striaghtbrook Glades, back up the lift and over to my home, The Darkside!! And of course it did not disappoint, with Upper/Lower Steihang, KHS, and BBA at their best!
Lather rinse repeat of those and then mineshaft, nugget, and the Darkside and ohhh baby it was on!
Around 1pm we headed to lower mt and did forever wild, back up to twister glades, over to Burnt, and did another hit on Sagamore, and then Barkeater to Backwoods and back to the Bowl! Can't believe how hard it snowed today, and thank you to all of you that stayed home today!! ⛷️ 🤷‍♂️ :ROFLMAO:
Ran straight from 8:15-2pm with just a pee stop on the first of 2 Nugget runs, not bad for an old guy!⛷️

happy for you. glad we dodged bullet one. weekend storm is trending in right direction. lets hope it works out well. appreciate the update

Great day today. Started on the lower mountain at 8:15 with a couple pristine groomed showcases before heading up top. Lies was great and warranted a re-run. Then Double barrel to under the chair, Chatemac, Straightbrook glades. All great. Over to Topridge for high pine and Cave glades which were also excellent. Back to Straightbrook for a few more laps of all the glades I mentioned previously and a Rumor which was good from the goat path.

Another cave then Chatterbox and over to BR via Tahawus which was excellent as expected. Boreas and barkeater great. Over to the bowl with hopes of ski bowl glades but they were closed. Got a nice run down a closed JJs anyways to Moxham. Finished the day by leaving BR with another Tahawus. North quad up and a jaunt down Otter Slide to close things out at 3:50.

Snow was great. Crowds really weren't a factor how I moved around the mountain and in some cases were nonexistent where expected. I think like last year for Presidents Weekend they capped day tickets low for the sell out. Honestly was like normal Sunday level busy if not a little less busy then that. As a pass holder I ain't complaining.

Back at it tomorrow. Hopefully we don't get sleeted...and yeeted

Fixed grips lifts FTW today.

Update 1:50pm:
Well it was a great morning and we ended up with around 6-8 inches of fresh snow! We had fun playing in the powder with you all this morning, but unfortunately things have switched over to sleet and freezing rain. While it may be switching back to snow at some point, the freezing rain has caused ice issues with our detachable lifts. For the remainder of today (Sunday 2/16), the Northwoods Gondola, Adirondack Express, Burnt Ridge Quad and Hudson Chair are shut down. There is currently no access to the Summit from the base area. Lower mountain lifts will continue running and the upper mountain lifts will remain on for those already up there.

If you really wanted to keep skiing. I came down from the summit at 1:30 and everything was glazing over. Was not a fun trip down to the Ski Bowl base with the thick crust that was setting up.
