Gore Mountain Conditions

Absolutely epic day. Started on 46er maybe 6th chair up with an untracked line despite the hoards of powder hounds descending on it. Bliss. Next run JJs to Moxham. Also mostly untracked. Over to BR. Scored a mostly untracked run down Sagamore. Then saw a snowboarder take the rope out on Boreas (thanks for your service) and had the best run I've ever experienced in there. Maybe 3rd person down. Untracked everywhere. Was like I was in my own Warren Miller movie. Next up was Abenaki which was also untracked and like being in a ski movie. Barkeater next was good but had been skiied some.

Went back to the bowl for Ski Bowl Glades laps. Was excellent but tracked up a little. Did 3 before back to BR and saw Cirque was open. What a treat. Did re-laps on all the BR glades before heading up top via Tahawus glades which was wonderful.

Up top did Rumor, the double barrels, Straightbrook glades, and under the chair. Rumor was meh, everything else was good especially the bumps under the chair as always. Finished the day with a McIntyre to Tahawus glades to BR and then a Barkeater back to the bowl.

The mountain is really skiing incredible right now and the woods coverage is best I've seen after today in a while. Crazy to think we keep getting snow it's just going to keep getting better. Today was definitely in my top 10 Gore days.
Had an absolute blast yesterday as well. Got first tracks on Top Ridge, it was knee deep in spots, legit face shots. The snow was so light, I've never experience that on the east. Did Cirque glades for my first time in 5 years of being a Gore regular.

From what I read, it seems like there is at least a chance that he 'died while skiing' vs 'died skiing."

Unless there is more information since yesterday.

I always find myself rooting for snow at Gore. Watching as the season climbs the ranks among the other seasons since 2008. Right now we are second to last, but I like our chances for moving up:

If we hit 579” we can finally say we are back to that famous 150” average over the last 17 years!

I lurk and post on a number of different sites and forums. After seeing the early posts I refrained from posting, preferring to lurk since social media is SO OFTEN wrong. Plus I always hope for the best... There was an early post suggesting an MI incident based on their observation of a tarp covering the victim in the center of the trail away from towers and trees with ski patrol gathered around. Note: I followed up the MI post with comment of possible heart attack thinking many youngsters might not recognize the term MI. I can understand the assumption but nearly every other post from skiers riding the BR lift said the skier was injured after leaving the trail and crashing. Reddit and a number of 'rider' facebook posts all listed more details including a post from a 'witness' or two. Certainly a sad way to end a number of days of fine skiing conditions whether you are an expert, experienced, or even timid skier like me. Please, Stay safe and enjoy.

In Gore's defense they have lowered their advertised season average to 120 inches. Most legit marketing claim for annual average snowfall in the east I believe.
