I voted yes-

Had PTA not been pushing for a yes vote, I most definitely would've voted yes as it (imo)
was the common sense vote. I loathe that group so much that they changed my vote....LoL

I want you to vote however, and for whatever reason you want to.

That said, were we really voting for ski trails? They are already built and being used. NYS was asking for permission after they already had done something. Nobody else could've gotten away with that.

I don't get that. You are against them even when they are on your side? Or you don't care enough about XC to support more trails, but you expect XC skiers to support you when you want snowmobile trials? You never get the perfect thing to vote on, and usually you have to hold your nose to vote at all.
I've been around regulatory agencies enough to know that successful environmentalist groups are masters of using leverage in negotiations, and sometimes they are on your side and sometimes not. PTA is no different that way.

I've learned that expectations are predetermined disappointments. So, no. I don't expect that.

I voted yes-- I'll support a lot of things that help people get out and enjoy the outdoors and play in the woods. Interestingly in my county (Monroe) 63% voted yes despite the overall close margin statewide.

I'm also w/ @Campgottagopee -- more lands for trails, bike and snowmobile. Snowmobile trails become bike trails in summer and fall. Those bike riders also get hungry, drink beer and need places to stay which would give business owners a longer season to earn a living. In my opinion we don't need to leave so much "untouched nature" in order to protect nature. The more opportunity we create for people to enjoy nature will encourage more people to care about nature--- which in the end protects nature. Just my opinion of course.

How do you look up the county by county results? Interesting to look at. (Thanks!)

So a "spite vote"... I get it. With some of those organizations my minds eye sees people like this
We get the same type blocking MTB riding from our local park trails.

I don't know a ton about it, but the issue I have with the forever wild language is not the constitution - i think that is cool - it is the interpretation of what that means. I am probably a 5% expert on forestry - ie a complete novice - but I hike enough to know that keeping no management leads to unhealthy forest. This is an issue in larger scout reservations as once upon the time the view was don't touch it.

Policies like that led to large forest fires out west. Now when you go to Philmont Scout Ranch, they encourage you to (safely) have a fire every night (you are usually too tired) to reduce fuel. There was a recent book I read on the history of Yosemite from native americans basically to the present. The massive scary fires in the 80s were a result of the early philosopy of 'leave it be'.

I would just say one of the few absolute rights we have in life as a citizen is the right to vote (and that you can lose in certain limited circumstances - don't remember the rules in NY). General note that it would be cool if we did not get on each other for how we voted. My bad for mentioning it in the other thread.

Simply put, I couldn't bring myself to support that group. Might sound stupid to some (I'm sure of that), but my mother always told me that the only person she knows who is more stubborn that my grandfather is me! LOL
