ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

@Ripitz since you mentioned you're a professional landscaper do you have any recommendations for Bluetooth hearing protection so I can listen to music and podcasts while I mow my lawn? The 3M worktunes seem to be a big name mentioned a lot. Just wondering if you or anyone else have any experience with the 3M product or any others to recommend or avoid?

Thank you

How about cranking this up?

I use Bose ear buds with noise cancellation or 3M Worktunes. If I’m weed whacking the earbuds will occasionally snap crackle and pop. They work great when using the electric mower but I have to have them cranked all the way up if I’m on the gasser. That’s not good for the ears so that’s when I use the Worktunes. You can also turn the earbuds way down and put standard muffs over them which may save you some coin if you already have both. Only complaints about the 3Ms is that they are quite large (wide) so they don’t fit well under hoods and tend to be hot in the heat of summer. Tune-in, tune-out and listen to the Double Chair Podcast.

Thanks @Ripitz and @Brownski.

So now I'm leaning towards earbuds under ear muffs since I have plenty of decent quality Bluetooth earbuds and can buy good ear muffs for $30. Brownski what exactly don't you like about earbuds under ear muffs?

Keep in mind I'm only using these 1-2x per week for about 40mins for mowing my lawn.

Thanks gents!

If you don't ban selling new gas powered tools you never get good battery tools.

How so?

Folks invented Tang without banning OJ.
The main point of using battery tools is less air pollution. If you sell a gas tool next to less pollution at Home Depot, gas wins most of time. There's just not enough market share to justify developing battery tools.
Replacing a mature technology is really hard and risky. That's why it needs government support. See also: solar power, EVs, or even the whole electric utility system.

For sure!
Man-o-man do I feel green whenever I pull the trigger on my battery powered chainsaw. It has nothing to do with it being a better tool for the job.
