Winter Weather 23/24

Sleet turned to rain around 11am at Timberline in WV. By noon it was raining steadily and it was about 35 degrees. Snow was sticky after lunch when I went out to check out one more trail. Heard that the 2-4 inches of powder was good until about 10. We started late so the snow was already pretty chopped up and wet by the time I was skiing.

I made the drive from Massanutten with a friend yesterday (2.5 hrs). Turned out that Mnut didn't open today given the forecast for heavy rain and high winds. With warm temps the idea seems to be to preserve snow. Winterplace in southern WV and Appalachian in NC also opted to stay closed for the day. My friend is getting weather alerts for flooding and high winds at her house in the DC metro area.

NNJ - 545pm - Temp now 43F and going up. It was 23F this morning at 6am. Pressure 29.59inHg and dropping like a rock.
Steady rain right now. Light rain started at about 11am.

Gore could get a foot. Could be gacky.
Should fill in the woods & help open more up.
Watch out for downed trees.
Yup. Got one on my roof. Hear a bang and saw a big branch of an Old Maple on the roof.
Called the tree service I grunted for years ago.
They said they’s be up in the AM. Told them they’ll be busy.
Then the power went kaput for 3 hours.
Holy! Local news just called for 70+MPH winds for Tully. That will blow a dog off a chain!
Finger Lakes can act like a funnel when it’s coming from the south.
North country will have some blowdowns in a lot of places.
