Where are you skiing this week?

Sugarbush this weekend. Was supposed to be last weekend but decided to postpone.

Who knows what conditions will be like. If crappie then early Apres at Lawson’s.

Looks to me like you may have hit the jackpot!
I’m hoping! Either way, fun will be had. Not beholden to Ikon I can actually venture out. Powder Mountain looks like fun, and the Salt Lake Ski Superpass will save me a few buck on Alta/Bird tickets, with the option to go to Brighton or Solitude if I choose.

Skiing on feet of new snow in the sun at 40 degrees sounds nice to me.

If you get to Powder Mountain I'll be interested in hearing about the changes. I'm bummed about Mary's and village being closed off. I'd be curious to know what that's like and how it impacts the experience.

I know nothing about PowMow, other than tickets are expensive but limited, and they have a number of hike/skin to zones. Fill me in on things I need to know!

I haven't been there since Reed Hastings (Netflix founder) bought it. Last time I was there was 2022. He did make a big investment in snow making and lifts. But he also closed off two lifts from the public and put in a third private lift. Shitty, selfish, elitism in my opinion. But maybe it's gonna be better for the public. He also replaced an aging public lift and put in another public lift. I believe the new one goes to Lightning Ridge which is advanced terrain formerly only served by pay by ride snowcat.

I really loved the place as it was. It was quiet and huge. Classic, no frills, old school charm. It still might be great but I don't know with Mary's lift being private now. Since you've never been there you'll probably like it since you won't know how it used to be.

What to know? Get tickets in advance as they can sell out. If they haven't changed parking rules you can drive to the top and park which is kind of unique.

Peak Rankings did an updated video on it which might be helpful.

I was just thinking the other day how I could use one of your last minute surgical strike out west trip reports. Take lots of pics please
Will do. Stumbled and bumbled into this one in my slow season to date, but last Friday was a good day to start looking a little more in earnest.

Alta reporting 19” since early yesterday, and I don’t think the winds have fully shifted to NW, which will hopefully favor the Cottonwoods through tomorrow. Fingers crossed for another foot, maybe two??? A guy can dream. Sunny, cold, and powder on Saturday should make for a pretty good day at the Birb!
