When will your home mountain start selling passes for next year?

The 2024-2025 Ikon Pass first deadline is tomorrow, April 18.
The base pass cost is $819 which includes a $50 renewal discount. My 2023-2024 base pass from last year cost $769 including a $50 renewal discount and a $10 covid class action credit.

Next year's season passes are available now at the Ho. Senior passes going for $170.00 until 7 August.

This is more than I thought.
2019-2020 I bought a Full Ikon early $919.
2020-2021 I went back to the Base Ikon which was $599 including a $100 renewal discount
I did not use the pass during 2020-2021/covid so I was able to use the the pass 2021-2022
2022-2023 Base Ikon was $719 including $50 renewal
2023-2024 Base Ikon was $769 including $50 renewal and $10 covid discounts
2024-2025 Base Ikon was $819 including $50 renewal

If you plan to ski more than 6-10 days, the base pass is still a great value. I assume it will keep going up for the next few seasons. I have managed to use the pass at multiple areas every season.

Somehow I got the idea those passes were 5 or 600. I admit I am not really paying attention to Ikon or Epic.

Is that ~30% rise in the base pass in 4 years? I wonder how that compares to everything else.

It's funny, my dislike of air travel, and love of repetition and familiarity makes me a (rare?) skier who is not tempted by a mega.

Is Ski3 a mega? ORDA spends mega $.
Indy gets folks 200+ ski areas, that’s mega.

The so called "mega passes" are generally considered Epic, MCP, Ikon, Indy. Even when Epic started in 2008, it wasn't multi-regional. The MCP started with 4 iconic resorts and grew slowly. By the time Ikon came along, the Epic list was quite long and all over N. America plus moving into other continents. With Indy around, the range in prices for mega passes is from $300-1200 but what you get varies from a couple days at each resort to unlimited at some resorts.

Ski3 is a regional multi-resort pass. Stuart somehow manages to keep track of those too.

People who buy a mega pass usually plan at least one ski vacation that involves traveling more than a day's drive. If they can use the pass locally too, that's a bonus.

After this season, I've used all the mega passes in various combinations. For 2024-25 my ski trip planning is shifting to getting 1-resort senior passes at two destination resorts out west and having Indy (already bought the Add-on). No Ikon, MCP, or Epic. I've also been getting a Massanutten pass for about $400 for trips with friends in January but that can end up just break even. It's easier than having to buy a senior day ticket every time I go to Mnut. In a few more years, I'll qualify for the $19 70+ Mnut pass. :)

Epic was $500 back in 2008. Ikon was $600 the first season. Ikon prices have gone up much more than Epic in the last few years.

The move to online advanced tickets with demand pricing has happened all over, and not just for destination resorts. The situation is very different than 4-5 years ago. Things were shifting before 2020 and software offerings make the options available for small and medium size ski areas/resorts quite different in 2024.
