What are your goals for the 2020/21 ski season?

here's another yiddish saying for those who bought season passes.. Meshuggeneh....;)

I haven't been paying attention to the COVID thread but Loveland seems to have a pretty stringent protocol in place, below. It won't be fun or romantic (including booting up at the car) but it's what will be required instead of taking the entire winter off from downhill skiing. Loveland is less than an hour drive from where I'll be staying in Denver so I'm ready to give this a try.

The major bummer (but hardly a surprise) is that the free cat skiing along the ridge won't be in operation this season.

Lifts
Lift tickets will need to be purchased in advance, online. Lift tickets will not be sold at the window the day of. Physical distancing will be mandatory in all lift mazes. Guests will not be required to ride on a chairlift with people outside of their party. Individuals who are not from the same party may ride a chairlift together with a minimum of one seat separating the unrelated individuals or parties. Face coverings will be required in lift mazes and on lifts for everyone age 5 and above. Hand coverings (gloves/mittens) will be required on all chairlifts.

Lodges
No food, beverage, or bar services at lodges. No picnic style or brown bag lunches allowed into the lodges. Significant occupancy reduction in the Basin & Valley lodges. Guests who want to rest/warm up will be greeted by hosts who will escort them to a table with their cohort party only (no eating/drinking at tables). A table tent with the time in and 30-minute departure time will be placed on the table. Hosts will monitor tables to ensure guests do not stay past 30 minutes. Face coverings must be worn at all times for anyone ages 5 and up while indoors.

To get a Covid vaccination in my ass and ski 15 days. 2 bc and 5 powder.

LOL is it more effective in the ass? :devilish:

I always tell people, if you are going to spend any significant time touring you have to enjoy the up as much as you enjoy the down. As you point out, the pain of the slog is a lot easier to enjoy/endure when the reward is untracked powder.

I’m no iron man on the skin track. There have been times I’ve been a few hours in on a steep up and I’ve had to resort to counting the steps uphill. Just 25 more. Ok, just 10 more. Whatever it takes to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Granted, skinning up a green at Catamount probably won’t be much of a suffer-fest for anyone.
i skin up with 132-90-116 skis, no fun at all. but to me its all about the downhill. slow and steady.
