I wish it was an elaborate story, but it's not. She was a family friend of a buddy of mine. His mom had a surprise 50th birthday party for him at their family house. My buddy introduced me to her, then said common let's go smoke a bomber. She was in her early 70's and still looking good

I mean that’s a pretty good story, actually. Thanks for making me realize I’m closer to 70 than I am to 30

On a bit of a trip this week. So here’s some old shit. I know I’ve posted before- maybe in this thread- but maybe not since the Nabble days. Healy, AK just outside of Denali National Park 1996- not necessarily ski related but, you know, fuck it. Me and a couple of my coworkers….

This big gray mare had a lot of personality. With a guest on her she would never walk more than 75% as fast as the rest of the horses so she’d be at least a couple hundred yards back by the end of a one hour ride. But for me she would work. As long as our group wasn’t too big or we didn’t have too many plus sized guests, I would take her myself and she was a sweetheart.

This buckskin was already like 24 years old then so he must be long gone but when I knew him, he was a bad ass.
