Triple Black Diamonds at Big Sky

Why ain't there a more systemized rating system for skiing mountains trails?
Because everyone wants to have an "expert" trail. IF every trail was rated based on the scale for Big Sky or Jackson Hole, nit many ski areas would have a black diamond trail.

Blues and blacks along with reds, whites and golds are all types of tees golfers used when playing the same course.
USGA goes out and rates em all (Slope Rating), then with their handicap system allows strokes to be given to make matches fair (unless there’s dang sandbaggers).

Money

USGA is “non profit” and they do it “voluntarily”.
Folks should get a skiing“non profit” to getter done?
Some friends volunteered to rate some of the golf courses around here in CNY.
Could be fun.

There is far greater variation among mountains vs golf courses.

In elevations it’s true.
Please explain. Do ya mean ski mountains (and local bumps).
Most golf ain’t played on mountains, but the Dalai Lama hits a long ball, allegedly.

Every trail at Mt Peter would be green? How many double blacks in the east?

It's not useful.
I don't agree. Would every trail at mount peter be green? IDK. If that is the case would that be bad? People may look at trail signs and know what they are getting into. Instead they wander onto a blue and next thing you know they are in over their heads

And ya typically don’t hurt yerself or other folks golfing as much as skiing.
Typically the only thing that gets hurt on a difficult golf course is yer pride & a bit of yer wallet if ya lose too many balls in the drink or brush.
