Today’s Paddle

cold springs is a cool little town, nice to pick up a breakfast sandwich and hang at the park on the river..

I meant to get down here last week but slept right past low tide. Then I slept past low tide yesterday. I hit the 8 AM low tide today but the harbor was already a hit show at that point so I ended up staying on the Jersey side again. I need to get better at waking up early.

Saturday actually. Did a little workout between Newburgh and Beacon.

Found some good bbq afterwards, just south of Cold Spring on route 9

That place is junk.

Best roadside BBQ place was Big W’s in Wingdale.

Well I liked the brisket. I’ll try Big W if I’m up there but I probably won’t drive 45 minutes north to paddle and then go further north to pick up dinner.

Not to disparage your paddle ---but that water looks pretty dirty with garbage ? Is there a lot of garbage in the water ? sorry for the ignorant question.

It was dirty as hell- a result of all the recent rain. I probably should have given it more time to flush itself out. I took a shower when I got home.
