Titus Conditions

There was 4 inches at our house, I think they groomed after the snow started falling.....Captain, are you skiing tomorrow?

@Ripitz Yeah, I think the maple operation is called Moon Valley Maple. I was once told in 3rd week of Jan that they had made an appreciable amount of syrup prior to that date! Warm winters allow for an extended syrup season I guess. They will also sell you (in no particular order) gravel, propane, pool care/supply, snacks, gas and bus tickets (Mountain Mart)! And that doesn't include the franchises (KFC anyone?). Sorry @Mike I can't believe we haven't run into each other yet! At least I didn't accost any strange bearded men this time! I just checked with the social media/photo police (AKA my kids) and they say I can post this pic too. Hoping for a "natural day" at the local hill this weekend--think snow!

Oh, and while I'm at it, let me complain about this particular gun, so sited as to bathe both the chairlift and the entrance to the main slope in an icy blast! I guess it is needed though...

Some of the lightest syrup I ever made was from the first week in January. I have to check out this operation some day. Maple syrup and skiing, what’s better than that? Coverage looks good up there, enjoy!

Life is pretty sweet when you boil it all down.

Mr. Rip have ya ever made maple sugar?
There’s lots of folks who make syrup around here in CNY.
One of the dang boarders we talked to in the lot at Song at the end of last ski season said he was gonna bring me some of his syrup. Hope he didn’t forget.
I don’t eat much white sugar, just honey and syrup sometimes.

Just stopping in to take a break, Titus is skiing really well right now. There's about 8 inches down now and it's still snowing. Ropes have been dropping and the locals are skiing everything as is their way. Chairs 1,4 and 6 are open, and they are blowing snow on the upper mountain. Skiing is terrific right now, tomorrow will be excellent as well. Quite a change from yesterday's hard and fast condition, as well as huge crowds with lots of kids for the rail jam and night skiing. OK, heading back out, let's hope it stays cold this week, if you can get out in the next few days it's really worth it.

We love Moon Valley syrup as well.

How's the skiing?

You guys will probably get some mix this weekend but I think by he middle of next week you should be rockin.

Well, it's been quite a week, Monday and Tuesday were really excellent. We took Wed and Thursday off, and yesterday was surprisingly good. Very edgeable snow, and just a lot of fun. It did snow before it changed to rain, and it's been raining and blowing, it appears that there is a net loss of snow, but the ground is still white. We never lost power here. I imagine the conditions are soft right now, and we might venture out if it dries out a bit. Let's see what tonight and tomorrow bring, powder day tomorrow I hope.

On January 18, 2024, at approximately 2:55 p.m., State Police members responded to Titus Mountain Ski Resort, located on Johnson Road, in the town of Malone, to assist EMS. An investigation determined Richard P. Finch, age 68 of Malone, NY, an employee at Titus Mountain Ski Resort, was on ski patrol when an unintentional accident occurred on the chairlifts. Finch was pronounced deceased on scene.

Got anything Mike?
