Titus Conditions

Well, March powder doesn't stick around long. Thursday started great, but the snow got heavy in the afternoon, groomers were great. Friday am was like skiing on butter, a lot of fun and then the rain came. It froze last night, Lower mountain was firm today, but the top of chair 6 held some promise so we headed to the Upper mountain which was excellent. Really good on the groomers. Ungroomed stuff was rightly closed. We skied a lot, the sun came out. Tomorrow should be good on the Upper. Still no closing date set so we have at least one more midweek of skiing, next week should have some good spring conditions and then we're of to Le Massif.

Just found out that Titus is closing mid-week now, and will be open weekends only for a bit. While I understand the reasons, this is definitely disappointing given the excellent conditions. Anyway, this is why we have skins, so we are going to tour at Club Titus now! We're headed to Le Massif on Sunday, we thought this might happen. Whiteface tomorrow.

We've been touring at Titus the last two days with the Fischer S-Bounds and it is fantastic. Corn snow, great conditions, and a lot of fun. I may bring out the AT gear tomorrow to go after the Upper Mountain. The mountain re-opens Friday at noon, I'm hoping for a corn fest.

Approach. Don't fall in.

Next, the WROD. Pretty good coverage overall.

I have never skied in 80 degree temperatures. 5 runs took about 5.5 hours. I got well and truly toasted.

There was definitely a wrong way to go!

One WROD to rule them all...

Well, Titus is back open, and skiing really well. We made it back to the house in Malone last night, and caught the skiing today. It was really good, and the mountain has done incredible work with quite a few trails open. A real treat was that lift 6 is open, even though it isn't listed on the conditions report. Conditions are variable, but overall very good and there are a lot of folks out enjoying it. We're taking a break, I might head out after dinner and tomorrow am should be good. I live in Montreal now as my wife is a student at Concordia. We've been up to Les Sommets a few times, and I'll try and share some reports from up there. The mountain crew has done a great job here, I hope it survives the coming torch.

Another fun day at Titus, it didn't freeze last night, so everything was soft, which was fun, but doesn't bode well for the snowpack. We had a great day, took a few runs, and had a great breakfast sandwich from the grill in the first floor. Then a few more runs and back home to head North. The mountain will be closed for a few days, which I think is a good idea. Mountain ops has done a really great job so far, so I'm hopeful they will use the coming cold weather to rebuild the base...

Some good news from Titus on their FB page, it looks like they are working to get the Upper Mountain open. BTW, a shameless plug, since we mostly live in Montreal, we are renting our home on Airbnb. It's walking distance to the lifts, and listed as: Bela's Bungalow...

GOOD NEWS
🙌

Despite yesterday's r***storm that swept the Northeast, our dedicated team and some of the best snowmakers in the business worked their magic, and we are thrilled to announce that we didn't lose any of the trails that were already open. That's right, we're back on track!

But wait, there's more! The crew wasted no time and has already started making more snow to expand terrain!
❄️

They are currently laying it down on Sunset, Milky Way, The Face, Bunny Hill, Maple, Tunnel Run, bottom of Chair 8, and the tubing hill. And if that wasn't enough, Mother Nature decided to join in on the fun as well. We woke up to 1-2 inches of fresh snow, and it's still falling. Things are starting to look like winter again!
🌨

So, what does all this mean? It means we will be ready for Christmas Week and we hope to see you here
🤙

Stay tuned for re-opening details coming later this week

We got about 4 inches of nice medium density pow out of this storm. The mountain is skiing great, chair 3,4 and today. They are blowing snow as well. The sun is coming out. We stopped back home to warm up and get some Blue wax on the skis. We do need more snow to open new terrain though.

@Mike, ugh, sorry I missed you! I woulda said more like 2 inches, but NE pow day in either case! Cue @Brownski pow rant!!
Guns blowing, and really only about 5 ways down. No gravel or any other hazards but it was getting thin by end of day.

Snow cover pretty low, so there were lots of these signs and some trails were half width. Peeps were going anyway tho.

The place was almost empty until the school kids showed up in the afternoon. This class was so cute, I asked to get a pic.

My two adult groms claim that this is the best of my photos. They claim the glare on the lens is arty? I dunno...

Nice pics. Are those sap lines in the trees? They have a sugar shack there, is that right?
