The Powder Chaser's Ratio

Have no idea what that might mean.
Gore and NYSkiBlog claim 428 acres for the entire ski area.

Does that include the Town of Johnsburg North Creek Ski Bowl? That's got to be 60-80 acres.

Does it include all the trees on Burnt Ridge? 4 tree runs of a mile. One time Mike Pratt told me that SHOWCASE was 25 acres of terrain. Those 4 tree runs could be another 60-80 acres, or more?

What about all the rest of the on the map trees? Are they in it? What about off the map?

It wouldn't surprise me if Gore was more like 600 acres.

To XT's point, what do you count?

Bigger picture, I do think the ratio means something, to me. All my favorites have low numbers.

There’s a point at which I lose interest. I think we can accept the resorts’ acreage as approximately accurate cant we?

What’s the UMP list as “official” skiing acreage?
It’s a legal document, allegedly.

Yes.

I still need a name for the ratio. I think I want to publish two pages. One for NY and one for VT.

Or maybe... How many total ski areas in the northeast?

1. Skier density score
2. Trail density score
3. Lift capacity/ acreage rating

I like #1 because people might mistakenly think we’re calling Mountain Creek skiers dumb- which we would never ever do of course

From
Gore Mountain's 2018 Amendment to the 2002 Unit Management Plan and Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement:
Section II - 20
"Snowmaking is provided on almost 100% of Gore Mountain’s trail terrain which covers approximately 334 acres."

If ya add ski bowl, the 428 acre total number might work now.
They must not count it if they don’t blow on it.

Maybe just Skier Density. Scale ranges from 5 to ... ?

What mountain is likely to have has the highest skier density?

Seems a bit over the top to call it a Core Score.
